My first experience with back pain was in my junior year of college. Back then, I would experience it as a tension headache. Through the years, the pain progressed until I was living with chronic back pain. I was in and out of physical therapy and often taking pain medication. Ultimately, I simply learned to live with it. What else was there to do? Then, during COVID, I started spending real time focusing on exercise; core strengthening, flexibility, and walking. Now, four years later, it’s baked in. I exercise … but it begs a question? What took so long?!! Why do we put off what we KNOW is best for us? I had real pain and still didn’t commit. Go figure! Today, it’s rare for me to have back pain. No pain, no visits to physical therapy, and most importantly, no medication! To be honest, it’s blissful!

Now, I stand grateful to be pain-free, and I implore you. Do that thing you know you need to do. Do it for your health, do it for your mind, do it for your well-being. Get off your mental sofa and just do it!
