Springtime always brings the beauty of flowers and time to relax working in my yard. I have a few flowering bushes, ornamental evergreens, and perennials. I also buy potted veggies, like tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. It’s a very small undertaking, but I enjoy it. For the last few years, I’ve wistfully thought about upping the ante by adding a planter box. Well, this is the year. I’m determined to build at least one. Leaning into growing (some of) my own food is appealing. It makes me think of a simpler lifestyle that I, personally, have never experienced. A slower, device-free existence that leaves room for cultivating peace and creative expression.
Well, for those who know me, don’t worry. I promise I’m not planning a move off grid (I do still like my devices!). I’m just grateful for the opportunity to cultivate the bit of land that I have and to see the beautiful (and tasty) fruit of my labors.
