Mental Health

by | Dec 16, 2023 | Shout Out

What would it be like to not be able to trust your own mind? To know that you could find yourself thinking things you don’t want to think, saying things you don’t want to say, or doing things you don’t want to do. Knowing that if one of these occurs, you may not get the help you need or even be safe because of the general lack of acumen in our society about mental health. It’s a reality that I can’t imagine. Yet, there are many who live with it every day. They face this reality and all the challenges it presents, and they power on. They are teachers, athletes, line workers, lawyers, electricians, food service workers, doctors, social workers, and so on. They are us – an integral part of what makes us a vibrant, diverse, and amazing community.

If this is your story, I am grateful to you for pressing on despite the headwinds that likely face you every day. Thank you for your strength. I am also grateful for the many Mental Health workers and advocates who endeavor to raise awareness, provide support, and establish programs that make a real difference. Thank you for your compassion.
